Not many people in Bollywood can afford to rub Salman Khan the wrong way. And when you happen to be a director whose fate depends heavily on the star’s shoulders, the most foolish thing to do would be to upset him.

That is exactly what’s been bothering Salaam-E-Ishq director Nikhil Advani for the last few days.

Messaging mess

It all started after the music release function of Salaam-E-Ishq. According to our sources, Salman and Nikhil were sitting together when the actor started getting text messages from his ex-girlfriend Somy Ali, about some problems she was facing. The actor got busy with his mobile phone and Nikhil could see that Salman was agitated.

Apparently, Nikhil then asked Salman what the problem was and the star, in a confessional mood, told him about the text messages. Salman even showed him some of them, in order to make the director understand his state of mind. One hears that Nikhil asked him to calm down and after a while, left Salman on his own.

As one of the unit members of the film informs HiTLIST, “The problem started when Nikhil couldn’t keep the information to himself.

He went and told the entire crew about Salman’s personal messages. The next day, almost everyone involved with the film knew about Somy’s messages to Salman.”

An actor who is also a part of the film says, “It was really unfair of Nikhil to break Salman’s trust. Salman is not the kind of person who shows his private messages to just about anybody.

Obviously, he held Nikhil in high regard before this incident, or maybe it was just on the spur of the moment that he showed the messages to him. Maybe he was feeling very emotional at that time.”

No reply

When we heard about the story, we tried calling up the director. But despite innumerable calls and messages, the director didn’t call back.

Our SMSes to him obviously made him aware about the story, but unfortunately for him Salman too discovered how Nikhil had betrayed him. Says our source, “Salman gave him a piece of his mind and that really shook Nikhil up.”

The blame game

In that state of confusion and chaos, Nikhil tried pinning the blame on someone else. We’re told that poor John Abraham became the obvious victim, considering his strained relationship with Salman. Nikhil went to the extent of telling Salman that he believed it was John who was behind leaking the news to the media.

After that, the Salaam-E-Ishq director added to the problem by calling up each and every member of the cast and telling them to “protect” him. He requested all his actors not to breathe a word about the text messages to anyone.

So right now, everyone’s being tight-lipped about it on record. Nobody wants to speak lest they upset Salman any further.

But the Khan knows who’s the real troublemaker in the entire episode. We wonder how Nikhil will repair that?
