Indian film stars take on Malaysian ministers in a friendly encounter
The Malaysian crowd obviously loves Bollywood actors. Everyone remotely connected to the film industry got a standing ovation at the Putra Stadium where stars were playing soccer against the Ministers of the country. There was lot of excitement in the air as each move by every actor was greeted with great applause by the hundreds of fans gathered for the event.
The soccer match saw stars like Salman Khan, Suniel Shetty, Arjun Rampal, Sohail Khan, Arbaaz Khan, Rohit Roy, director Kunal Kohli, along with the model brigade like Shawar Ali and his gang pitting their might against the Ministers.
John Abraham backed out of the match at the last minute for reasons best known to him.
However, that proved to be a lucky decision because the game saw many injuries. Salman and Arjun retired in the middle of the game to nurse their bruised legs. Prashant Raj, Ram Gopal Varma’s latest discovery who is playing Jai in his ‘Sholay’, was seriously injured and had to be carried away in spite of being given a pain killer injection when he bruised his leg.
Giving Salman moral support were girlfriend Katrina Kaif, sister Arpita and her good friend Arjun Kapoor. Shatrughan Sinha was sitting in the audience cheering the players.
The highlight of the game was when at the end Salman ran around the stadium waving at the audience. The crowd couldn’t contain themselves and there was a huge uproar which could be heard even outside the huge stadium.
The Malaysian crowd seemed to have special fondness for Arjun Rampal too as the girls swooned at his sight. “Isn’t he extremely cute?” gushed one of the teenaged spectators in the crowd.
The game ended in a 2-2 draw. The stars almost won when Arbaaz got a chance to score a goal in the dying minutes, but unfortunately it didn’t reach the goal post.
