What coup?
Faheem Ruhani
Thursday, September 21, 2006 23:30 IST
Shooting for ‘Rubaru’ and ‘Partner’ continues unaffected in Thailand even after the bloodless coup .
The makers of ‘Rubaru’, jointly produced by Raj Kaushal and Percept Picture Company must be heaving a sigh of relief that their film which is being shot in Bangkok has not been affected even after the military overthrew over the Thai government on Tuesday. The film, being directed by Arjun Bali, stars Randeep Hooda and newcomer Shahana.
“Oh, there is absolutely no problem! It was bloodless coup and our main production in-charge is from Bangkok and he’s assured us there is nothing to worry,” says Raj Kaushal who is leaving for Bangkok today.
“In fact,” adds Raj, “After the coup occurred, I spoke to David Dhawan who is shooting ‘Partner’ in Phuket with Salman Khan. He told me there is nothing to worry because the roads would be clearer and things would get cheaper because most foreign tourists are leaving the country.”

Dipsshikha to play Sallu's sis
The actress will play the part for David Dhawan's Partner; will leave for Thailand for ten-day schedule

Sister act:Dipsshikha
Dipsshikha was down with burning fever when she got a call asking her to come over to discuss a role. The actress went to the David Dhawan's Juhu office despite being ill. There, she learnt that Sohail Khan wanted her to play Salman Khan's sister in Partner, directed by Dhawan.
It's fun
Says Dipsshikha, " I actually had 103° F when Sohail called. When he told me that I would be playing Salman's sister, I almost shrieked with joy. I have worked with him in Jaanam Samjha Karo, and I know it's great fun."
Dipsshikha says that she cannot elaborate on the role. "Else David Dhawan will kill me!" she almost screams, and then adds, "All I can say is that I play Salman's married sister who is settled in Thailand."
Leaving for Thailand
So is she going to Thailand? "Obviously. I am leaving tomorrow. I will be back after ten days. This is the second schedule of the film. Govinda will also be there. It's not going to be easy amidst the three kings of comedy — David Dhawan, Govinda and Salman Khan. But I am going to do my best," she says.
Dipsshikha recently completed a cameo in CID. "I am talking to a few people for television roles. Once I am back from Thailand, I'll take that further," she concludes

Salman's to shoot
for Partner soon
Salman Khan has returned to work with a bang thus refuting
speculation about a possible holiday after his Jodhpur experience.
In fact, Salman is trying hard to make up for lost time.
Salman has been busy rehearsing rigorously for Rock Stars,
putting in as much as six hours every day, since his return
from Jodhpur. Next month, when he goes for these concerts,
he will shoot for David Dhawan's Partner with Govinda, Katrina
Kaif and Lara Dutta.“I think Bhai has rested enough
in Jodhpur,” says brother Sohail. “During weekends,
Salman will be performing at the concerts and on weekdays
he will shoot for Partner. He's concerned about the delay
in the Rock Stars concerts and is making every effort to
get his schedules back on track. It's almost like a junoon
(passion) for Bhai. This feeling of commitment going awry
bothers him,” says Sohail. The Partner crew will shoot
with Salman in Canada wherever it's convenient for him to
fly down. “We'll shoot with him in Vancouver first
and then later in Toronto,” adds Sohail. The work permit
that Salman has been granted after the bail is most likely
to be extended beyond June. “Between July and December
Bhai shoots for just one month in India. The rest of the
schedules are all overseas,” says Sohail

Salman's
'Partner' dangerously close to 'Hitch'
David Dhawan continues to get inspired for his comic
folks, his latest one being Salman Khan-Govinda starrer 'Partner'.
The movie's storyline goes like this. Salman Khan plays a
'Love Guru' kind of a character who specializes in passing
on advices related to love to men. One such person is Govinda
who learns the tricks of falling in love and making someone
one fall in love from Salman Khan. While Salman is shown to
be super stud and super cool, Govinda is a super innocent
and simple character.
Sounds familiar! Well, no issues here even if the movie is
a remake because at the end of the day the storyline does
set good grounds for a hilarious comedy that would fly quite
well with the Indian sensibilities.
We are waiting for this one - Partner !

Salman to play
'love guru' in David's next
IANS MUMBAI
Salman Khan, who is scorching the headlines for the blackbuck
poaching case for which he is being tried in a Jodhpur court,
is playing a love 'guru' doling out advice on courtship
matters to Govinda in David Dhawan's "Partner". David was
jubilant and said: "Both Salman and Govinda are my buddies.
And they are playing buddies in 'Partner'. Naturally there
has to be great bonding between them. "I am happy to say
Salman and Govinda are like brothers. No ego hassles at
all. They both arrived at Mehboob Studios in Bandra on the
dot in the morning for the shoot. That's quite an achievement."
Salman's younger brother Sohail Khan is producing the film.
"I guess it has to do with their faith in this project,
and in me. Let's not forget, Salman's brother Sohail is
known to be a fab producer. I promise you, this movie won't
just give Govinda a new image, it will also present Salman
like never before. "He plays a super-cool stud, a love 'guru'
giving out advice on courtship matters to the innocent and
inexperienced Govinda who plays a common man. Don't you
think the two are perfectly cast?" said Dhawan. David agrees
he has lost some precious giggly ground with his last risible
release "Shaadi No 1". "I need to return with a big bang.
I feel 'Partner' will do the trick for me." While Salman
and Govinda play roles very true to their image, their two
leading ladies are unusually cast. "While I have paired
Salman with Lara Dutta (the two have never been togetherbefore)
Govinda will be seen with Katrina Kaif," said David. But
the stress will clearly be on buddy-buddy talk between the
two male co-stars... just like Abhishek Bachchan-Riteish
Deshmukh in recent release "Bluffmaster" and Akshay Kumar-Bobby
Deol in "Dosti".

Govina in his
latest interview about salman....!
“I realise my mistakes today,” he admits. “And
now that I have signed three good films, with David Dhawan,
Aparna Sen and Nikhil Advani, everyone will see an improved
version of me. I owe it to David, who has stood by me. I
am really thankful to him and Salman Khan. I had told David
I would do any character role. But when David took this
proposal to Salman, he said, ‘I will do a parallel
role with Govinda.’ No hero will bring in another
hero in the trade, especially when he is at his peak. When
I was at the top, I used to be selfish as all we actors
are. I would always want the best lines and best roles for
myself. But Salman has made a gesture which proves the greatness
of his heart. And I swear that if ever such a time comes
when I am doing well and I get an opportunity to help fellow
actor going through a lean phase, I will repeat Salman’s
gesture. His generosity has touched my heart deeply.”

Style
behen
AFSANA AHMED Times News Network
Alvira Agnihotri is taking her styling pretty seriously.
After dressing up her brother Salman Khan, she’s now
designing for Govinda!
|
Styling was initially just a hobby for Salman’s sister
Alvira, but now she’s giving it some serious attention.
“I always loved to mix and match
stuff and create a distinct look. It all started when I
would occasionally style Salman’s offscreen look,
even though he shops for his own clothes most of the time.
He liked my style sense, and suggested that I officially
style him for his movies. He boosted my confidence and I
took it up, little reluctantly though,” says Alvira
Agnihotri of her foray into styling with their home production,
Dil Ne Jise Apna Kaha.
And since then, Alvira got into the groove and styled Salman’s
look in Maine Pyar Kyon Kiya and Kyon Ki for which Salman
was noted for his youthful and fresh look. And the news
is, she is now styling Govinda and Salman in David Dhawan’s
Partner. Of how the styling for Govinda came about, Alvira
narrates, “Govinda didn’t have a designer of
his own, so when David suggested my name, he was keen. I
showed him my sketch on the character he is playing and
he left everything to me. I have never looked Govinda beyond
his acting abilities. He is a great actor. And I am glad
to style him.”
Govinda who has always been lambasted for his dress-sense,
is happy that Alvira is styling him. “I have
been known for my colourful clothes. I can’t come
back like that in today’s time. Everything is changing.
And I am working with Salman Khan in the movie. He’s
such a handsome and well-dressed man and to keep up with
him I needed somebody who can give me that look. Baby (Alvira),
his sister, has potential and can understand the character
very well. I am in a new avatar,” he smiles.

Sohail opts to partner Govinda, Salman left out of Fight
Club
- By Our Correspondent
Sohail Khan will tie up with production company K Sera Sera
for his next venture titled Partner. The star cast of this
film include Govinda, Salman Khan, Lara Dutta and Katrina
Kaif.
"The film is a relationship between two friends," says Sohail.
"No, I’m not acting in Partner. Salman and Govinda
can hog the limelight. I’m happy being a producer
which always has been my forte. Acting was just a hobby,"
adds Sohail. Apart from Partner, Sohail has tied up with
the same production company for his Fight Club. "But we
are not getting into a long-term multi-film collaboration
with K Sera Sera," he says.
While Partner will focus on friendship as its main theme,
Fight Club is an out-and-out action flick featuring Sohail
with Suneil Shetty, Dino Morea, Riteish Deshmukh and Zayed
Khan. It is about four friends who form a fight club with
their own set of rules. A negative force comes into the
fight club and everything goes out of control," says Sohail.
Like in David Dhawan’s Amar Akbar Anthony, why weren’t
the Khan brothers cast together in Fight Club? "I couldn’t
cast Salman as it would be unfair for the rest of the star
cast. It would have disturbed the equilibrium. Arbaaz was
too old for the positive role," says Sohail.
The film is being directed by Vikram Chopra who has been
assisting Sohail since his Hello Brother days. "I didn’t
want to act in the film but Vikram insisted that I do a
role. My role as a producer for Fight Club counts more,"
he says. Sohail’s forthcoming ventures are God Tussi
Great Ho, Nikhil Advani’s Salaam-E-Ishq and Aryan.

Salman returns to work after illness
17th Dec 2005 21.30 IST
By Nikhil Kumar
Salman Khan was up and about in his buoyant spirits on Thursday, shooting for David Dhawan’s next movie.
The energetic Khan had been lying low for the last few days after a spell of viral fever. But as soon as he recuperated, Salman began shooting for David Dhawan’s next movie ‘Partner’ in which he is pairing with Govinda for the first time.
And guess what, the Khan, quite infamous for his lack of punctuality, made an entry into the Mehboob studios at the stroke of 8 in the morning.
His co-star Govinda, who has a similar reputation, also surprised everyone by his punctual arrival on the sets at 8.
“They both (Salman, Govinda) arrived at Mehboob studios in Bandra on the dot – that’s quite an achievement!” Dhawan is quoted as saying.
Rightly said, Mr. Dhawan. |
Salman Khan-Govinda film takes off
By Teenstation Correspondent
Salman Khan and Govinda will be seen together for the first time in David Dhawan’s Partner. The film was launched on December 15 at Mehboob Studios in Mumbai. Last time, Salman Khan played a cameo in Govinda-Anil Kapoor starrer Deewana Mastana wherein he appears towards the end of the film. Both leading man came to the studio on time and first take was taken in the morning at 8.30 am. The film also stars Lara Dutta and Katrina Kaif as female leads |
Salman-Govinda are Partners
by Subhash K. Jha
After much dillydallying David Dhawan has finally zeroed-in on a title for his spanking new Govinda-Salman project.
The film is going to be called Partner. "I called it that because it's a film about male bonding. It's a buddy-buddy film," says David, exhausted after Zayed Khan's wedding festivities.
Makes you wonder if Bollywood is into a season of prolonged male-bonding flicks beginning with Suneel Darshan's Dosti where Bobby Deol and Akshay Kumar play buddy-buddy, which opens next month.
After Shaadi No 1 and Zayed's shaadi, it's time for David to move on . "Govinda and Salman will be the main focus of the film's interest. I chose the title Partner because the film's main focus will be the two actor's partnership."
Lara Dutta and Katrina Kaif will co-star opposite Salman and Govinda, respectively. The film goes on the floors between 10 and 15 December.
Producer Sohail Khan is going into partnership with K Sera Sera, the company that has co-produced a large number of Ram Gopal Varma's films.
"It's not about the company, but the company that I keep," jokes Sohail.
"The partnership for Partner isn't so much with K Sera Sera as its top-man Faraaz Sanghvi. For a while he has shown interest in a collaboration. Since I felt a growing comfort-level with him I saw no reason to say no. But we aren't going into a long-term multi-movie collaboration with K Sera Sera . At the most we'll do one more film together. That could be my other production Fight Club."
Fight Club is an out-and-out actioner featuring Sohail with Suneel Shetty, Dino Morea , Riteish Deshmukh and Zayed Khan.
"But I'm not playing a part in Partner. Salmanbhai and Govinda can take centrestage. I'm just happy serving as a producer ," smiles Sohail.

Katrina won't be Salman's heroine in 'Partner'
19th Dec 2005 18.49 IST
By Nikhil Kumar
Just because Salman Khan and his girlfriend Katrina Kaif are acting together in a film doesn’t mean the two would be cast opposite each other.
Filmmaker David Dhawan is trying an unusual cast combination in his next comedy movie, titled ‘Partner’, that has his favorites Salman and Govinda coming together on screen for the first time.
The movie’s leading ladies are Katrina Kaif and Lara Dutta .
While one would presume that Katrina would be Salman’s heroine in the film, it, however, is not the case.
The film has Katrina cast alongside Govinda while Lara Dutta is paired with Salman.
In the film, Salman plays a love guru who is highly experienced in matters relating to romance and girl-wooing. Govinda, on the other hand, plays an innocent inexperienced man who takes advice from the love guru to woo Katrina.
Sounds interesting!
Shooting for the movie has already begun in Mumbai. The film is produced by Salman’s brother Sohail Khan .

PARTNER
David Dhawan has an enviable track record, with his last two films, MUJHSE SHAADI KAROGI and MAINE PYAAR KYUN KIYA, proving money spinners at the box-office. So it does come as a surprise that his latest film, SHAADI NO. 1, released during the Diwali week, didn’t set the cash registers jingling.
However, David doesn’t belong to the breed that turns a blind eye to the box-office outcome or hesitates when it comes to accepting facts. “I think SHAADI NO. 1 went wrong in the post-interval portions,” DD seems to be in an introspective mood, “The last half-an-hour of the film was an absolute letdown. I’d packaged so much in the first hour that the expectations from the second hour were humungous. And somewhere down the line, the penultimate reels of the film just didn’t work.”
David also feels that had there been two releases this Diwali, instead of three, the results would’ve been far, far better. “GARAM MASALA had a clear edge. The Akshay-John pairing was its major USP. Also, the Jains [of Venus] went all out to promote the film, thereby ensuring that it took a fab start,” DD points out a valid reason.
Undeterred by the non-performance of SHAADI NO. 1, DD is making every possible effort to ensure that his forthcoming films live up to the expectations of the moviegoers. The first project to roll is the Sohail Khan-produced Salman Khan-Govinda starrer, which is finally titled PARTNERS.
Also in the pipeline are projects for UTV [Sanjay Dutt, Zayed Khan, one more hero], the Jains of Venus and of course, the remake of AMAR AKBAR ANTHONY for the Tauranis of Tips. Clearly, DD has his hands full… and yes, he’s raring to go!
